“Service to humanity is the highest service.”
Keeping this noble message in mind, volunteers of GIO and Cordia Group, Sanghol, organised a Chhabeel on the martyrdom day (Shaheedi Diwas) of Guru Arjan Dev Ji.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the fifth Sikh Guru, made the supreme sacrifice in 1606 while upholding truth, justice, human dignity, and the right to freedom of faith. He compiled the Adi Granth, the original version of the Sikh scripture that was later bestowed with Guruship as Sri Guru Granth Sahib, and completed the construction of Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple), Amritsar, making it a spiritual centre open to all humanity.
His martyrdom is remembered as a timeless symbol of courage, tolerance, and selfless devotion to the welfare of mankind. The occasion inspires people to serve others with humility and compassion.
To commemorate his martyrdom, volunteers served Chhabeel (a refreshing sweetened drink) and Prasad to travellers in the scorching summer heat. This tradition reflects the Sikh values of selfless service (Seva), equality, and compassion.
Chairman Lord Diljit Singh Rana, villagers of Sanghol and nearby villages, members of the community, youth, workers, and faculty participated in the event and paid tribute to Guru Arjan Dev Ji’s teachings and sacrifice.
Sharing a few glimpses.
Regards
Dr. Urmil
